My Experience At VBS 2009
{ July 14th, 2009 }
First I would like to thank the Amherst Baptist Church for allowing me to attend their VBS.
To begin the day I was greeted by friendly faces and very happy kids; it was a perfect beginning to VBS.
First, everyone gathered in the church. There was entertaining music playing in which all the kids were singing, dancing and even signing to; it was great! The kids were so excited to be there to learn the “message of the day” which was Worship. It was fun that everyone was so involved and the adults an incredible job at getting their message across to the kids.
Before the kids were separated into their age groups and set off to their sessions we said a prayer; which was about being thankful for the opportunity for being at/having VBS this year. Then we were off to the sessions; the first one that I attended was the crafts room. This was so much fun; the kids were making didgeridoos and coloring T-Shirts from Guildcraft. It was great to see all the kids wearing the T-Shirts that they had colored and made their own with personal touches. I though it was also a creative way to show that all the kids were on the same “team”, it was almost like a fun uniform for the kids at VBS.
Next, I visited a couple of different rooms that were all decorated in the VBS theme; which was Australia. Each room had lessons going on; unfortunately I wasn’t able to sit in on all of them. The one that I was able to see was with the 5th graders; they were so involved in the lesson and eager to participate.
All in all my experience this year at VBS was wonderful; I really enjoyed myself! I think the church did a fantastic job at getting their message across to the kids. They made it fun and beneficial to everyone involved and they also made me feel like part of their family which was so kind of them.
Again, I would like to thank everyone that was involved with VBS 2009 at the Amherst Baptist church. You guys did a phenomenal job!
Let me know how your VBS turned out!
