I probablly would have chosen a different one if more stated whether they were Catholic or was available with Catholic education in mind. The cost of the starter kits are also a factor for me since we are a very small parish with limited resources.

We would have liked to use Group’s High Seas Expedition but they only have two levels of student materials and our VBS is geared to 5 levels of student materials. (Preschool, Kindergarten, 1st & 2nd grade, 3rd & 4th grade, 5th & 6th grade) Plus, the exam kit was too costly.

I am from a Catholic church and have used Group VBS for many years and have always ordered the Catholic version, but there has always been a time crunch so we never used the extra’s for Catholics because of it. Also, I believe that we have not exposed our students to enough of the Bible and it’s rich collection of stories that VBS provides the venue to “break open the word” in a fun and rich manner which teaches the students.

We are again going with Group, High Seas. I have found that there is always lots of support. Last year for the first time we have preschoolers and while changes had to be made fro simpler crafts, the program went very smoothly. Costs for starter kits is high, because of this we have continued to go with what we know and a publisher who will gives a great deal of support.

We are again going with Saddle Ridge Ranch. Their studies are alway rich Bible-based material, providing answers to questions kids have about who they are, who God is, and who Jesus is. The lessons are complete and easy to empliment with fun activities, crafts, games, snacks, music, etc., with real-life applications. Guildcraft provides another venue of affordable resources to go along with their theme as well as the other publishing companies, and we appreciate that!

We’re using “Wild Willy and the Candy Factory” from Leader Resources this year at our Episcopal Church. We’d love to see craft/ decoration resources from Guildcraft and others on Leader Resources VBS programs, eg; Aslan is on the Move (the Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe themed), Wizards and Wonders (Harry Potter themed), Pilgrimage, Dare to be Different (A Wrinkle in Time themed), etc. While these programs haven’t been widely promoted, anyone from any tradition is welcome to purchase them and they are available every year.
